Wessex Internet has bagged its largest Project Gigabit deal so far, securing a £33.5m Government contract to deliver broadband to 21,400 homes and businesses in rural areas of south and west Dorset, along with south Somerset.

Government funding has enabled 1,006,800 homes and businesses to gain access to gigabit-capable networks since August 2012, according to new data.
CityFibre has begun work to connect 45,000 hard to reach premises in Cambridgeshire as part of a £69m Project Gigabit contract.
