Fibrus is offering career opportunities to Cumbrian graduates as it rolls out full fibre broadband in the region, as part of a year-long programme that gives comprehensive training, a dedicated mentor and valuable hands-on experience.

Alncom has helped to create a training programme for local Northumberland students to learn some of the skills required to deploy fibre broadband, alongside gaining an understanding of how the internet gets into their homes.
Clarty Commandos is a ‘Forest School’ set up in the grounds of Howick Estate near Alnwick in Northumberland, where children of all ages can experience learning in a unique environment, with focus on practical rather than academic activities.
Students from Alnwick’s Duchess Community High School Development Group 2 were given an overview of network design and from this they were able to carry out a site survey, design the network and create ‘job packs’.
Under supervision, the students built 250m of fibre network, connecting the Forest School to Alncom’s core network.
The students installed duct, built a chamber, spliced joints then setup WiFi to the site fostering long lasting team building and listening skills.
